About Me

Hi, I am Refika

waving-hand 1 (1).png

I’m a self-taught UX designer, living and creating in Stuttgart, Germany. I really enjoy questioning why things are the way they are and I love all kinds of design from branding and illustration to UX and UI design.

As a UX designer, I aim to produce intuitive and immersive designs that have an impact on the day-to-day. I firmly believe in the value of user research for creating simple digital experiences that bring joy.

My background is a colorful blend of multiple disciplines. I have a bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting Studies, and a master’s degree in Psycholinguistics. I started my career at an international PR company where I helped to build and maintain a positive brand image for our clients. I then transitioned to a teaching career and taught English at university for about four years.

When I discovered UX design, it was love at first sight. I had always enjoyed creating things and solving problems. I was very happy to see that I could do both as part of my job. So it didn't take me long to make the decision to transition into UX Design.

When I am not designing, you will find me painting, doing yoga, or exploring new places. I also write about UX design on Medium.
